When hit with job loss, your confidence and self-esteem can be the first to go. It's normal to feel like you've done something wrong … even though you know the contrary. Remember, you leave with the credentials, the education, the skills, and the opportunity to move forward. If you're the only one laid off, you have right to be suspicious; but overall, layoffs aren't personal. Reducing a workforce is oftentimes a reaction to market conditions or financial constraints your employer is facing. Be confident with the overall value you have to offer your next employer. Polish your resume, remind yourself that this unexpected job loss is a great opportunity refocus, and press ahead to next chapter of your career.
